TGIFC304 - Darling Donkeys meets Approaching Perfection

 Hello Crafty Friends!

This week's TGIFC challenge is all about Sale-a-Bration!

If you haven't heard of Sale-a-bration yet then you must know that this is Stampin' UP!'s most popular promotion of the year!... and there's ONLY 5 days left before it ends.

During Sale-A-Bration, you can earn FREE products for every $50 or $100 you spend. Choose between two purchasing levels of free products, Level 1 and Level 2. Stampin Up!'s video below describes it best...

You can view the Sale-a-bration brochure here.

For my Sale-a-bration creation, I chose to put together an interactive slider card using the Darling Donkeys and the Approaching Perfection stamp sets.

I admit this card was quite involved and did take some time to put together. It took me 3 tries to get it looking the way I wanted it. However, don't let this stop you from giving it a shot! You'll probably have better luck than me! he he he.

My Tips
  • The slider card was made using Jennifer McGuire's tutorial. I did make some adjustments to the dimensions based on the die I used as follows:
    • Use the Stitched Rectangle die that measures 3 3/4" x 4 1/8" (outside dimensions).
    • The inside slider tab measures 3 5/8" x 5 1/2".
  • For the inside slider tab, I used a non-Stampin' UP! stamp set called One-of-a-kind by Honey Bee Stamps.
  • For the card front, I recommend cutting out the partial rectangle first before embossing the Just Jade cardstock with the Brick and Mortar embossing folder.
  • Use the So Much Happy bundle to stamp and cut out the balloon. For the balloon string, make sure to cut out two (2) and adhere on top of one another for a sturdy reinforcement since this will only be adhered at the donkey's mouth.
    • You could cut out a sliver of a mini dimensional to help stabilize the balloon string a little more, placing it just below the score line where it folds up.
  • Use the Ornate Borders dies for the strip of black border towards the bottom of the card front.
  •  The inside of the card was kept pretty simple as shown below.

Supply List
Please click on the following link for the supplies used to make this project: https://s.tamp.in/Rz6U03
  • As I had mentioned above, the only non-Stampin' UP! stamp set I used was for the slider tab.
  • The Approaching Perfection stamp set was also used for the sentiments and not populated in the supply list above.

I sure appreciate you stopping by and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or you may comment below.

Until next time ...

#TGIFC303 Sketch Challenge with Shark Frenzy

 Welcome Crafty Friends!

I'm sharing with you this week's challenge from TGIF Challenges

This week we needed to come up with a project that goes with the card sketch shown above.

I chose to use the most fun Shark Frenzy bundle from page 46 of the 2021 Mini Catalog by Stampin' UP!. This set is simply a genius design!

I immediately had the thought of breaking up the small blue shaded square in the sketch into 4 smaller squares. I knew I wanted it to be colorful and so I wanted to give the "4 box pop art" a try.

Here's an example of what I mean by that. You could search the internet for this and find many examples of this.

Here's my version of the sketch along with the "4 box pop art" design.

I figured I could kill two birds with one stone by making a couple of coordinating gift boxes for my two boys for Valentine's Day so I grabbed some of those tiny clear boxes and decorated the front. Super quick and easy!

MY TIPS
>> Use the Whale of a Time DSP (designer series paper) to cut out a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece then stamp the "Doo Doo Doo..." sentiment using Pacific Point ink. Adhere to card front.

>> Use the 2nd smallest stitched square (1 3/4" x 1 5/8") from the Stitched Shapes dies to cut out 4 different colors from the DSP.

>> Stamp the baby shark in different shades as shown. I used Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, Bumblebee and Calypso Coral. Cut out with coordinating die and adhere with dimensionals to the center of the stitched squares.

>> Use the Adhesive sheets to adhere onto a piece of Basic White cardstock and use the bubbles die to cut out and adhere as shown.

>> The "baby shark" sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink onto Basic Black cardstock then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I cut the sentiment out with my Paper Snips and different angles to make it look playful. I CASED this idea from the "I love you daddy" card sample shown in the catalog.

>> for the inside of the card, I used the Stampin' Write markers to color directly onto the "I love you" stamp using Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, Bumblebee and Calypso Coral

>> For the little gift boxes, I used a solid heart from the Stitched Be Mine dies and cut out from the DSP. The rest of the design is similar to the card but I did finish it off by wrapping a piece of Misty Moonlight ribbon.

#TGIFC302 - Color Challenge PLUS Giveaway!

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's the month of LOVE, whether you're celebrating friendships or family members or your spouse!

I am sharing with you a little project I put together just in time to join the #TGIFC302 color challenge by using this combo of colors PLUS I get to gift a little something to gift my Valentine (husband).

My husband and I do enjoy a little glass of wine together and although we don't do a whole lot of celebrating on Valentine's Day, I still like to gift him a little something. What better way to express my love to him than this card and wine bottle with a coordinating tag?!

TIPS for Card and Tag

>> Use a 8" x 5 1/2" piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock and score the long side at 3 3/4".

>> Cut a 5 1/2" x 1" strip of paper from the Peony Garden DSP to adhere on the right edge of the inside of the card.

>> Use the Adhesive sheets and the hearts die to run through the Stampin' Cut machine to easily adhere to card front.

>> Cut out a Real Red heart using the die from the Floral Heart Dies. Be sure to keep the outer portion of the heart for the tag.

>> The banner is cut out using the banner die from the Floral Heart Dies and the marbled paper from the Peony Garden DSP.

>> The finished tag measures 3" x 8 1/4" and scored along the length at 5".

>> Use the 2" circle punch to punch out a circle to fit over the neck of the wine bottle.

>> Use the "Let's celebrate you" sentiment from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set along with your stamparatus to stamp "Let's celebrate" as two separate lines.

#TGIFC301 - Mad for Plaid - A masculine Birthday Card

 Hello Crafty friends!

I'm returning today as I participate in this week's TGIFC challenge #TGIFC301 - Mad for Plaid

One of TGIF's designers, Stesha Bloodhart, challenged us to create a project using some plaid. I'm a big fan of her work and don't think I could meet up to her standards but I will take on the challenge, regardless.

I decided to work on a masculine birthday card for my brother, who just turned 22 years old yesterday. I did CASE the layout for the card shown on page 178 of the Stampin' UP! 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

As I thought through the layout, I figured some plaid balloons would be perfect for a masculine card! This is my final design.

 Tips for making this card

  • Use the coordinating colors from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper from page 67 of the 2021 January-June Mini Catalog:
  • I did use the Buffalo Check Background Stamp onto some Basic Gray, Pacific Point and Poppy Parade cardstock for a more subtle plaid look to the balloons.
  • Add some shine with Silver Foil for the balloon strings and stars.
  • The "birthday" sentiment was heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
  • Finish off the card with the "to you" sentiment in silver embossing and some more plaid.

Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick - NEW RELEASES

Updated 2/4/2021 - I added the Facebook Live recording towards the bottom of this post.

Happy February,  crafty friends!

I'm coming to you this week to share with you on how I CASE'd (Copy And Share Everything) these adorable yet simple cards that were created by Stampin' Up's concept artists using the NEW RELEASE of two bundles: Hey, Chick and Hey Birthday Chick.

You may recognize the Hey, Chick stamp set that first came out during Sale-a-bration 2017. I'm so excited to see that Stampin' UP! brought this stamp set back and made it even better by having coordinating dies available too! This is available for purchase ONLY Online at my Online Store.

The Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, as shown below, is a new bundle that also coordinates with the Hey Chick bundle. The stamp set itself is available in page 52 of the 2021 January-June Mini catalog but the coordinating dies are only available at my Online Store

These two bundles lend themselves to so many fun occasions you can pair them with and that's what I love about them!

I wanted to show how CASE'ing a simple layout can be done by varying the colors and paper you use so I chose to use coordinating colors from the Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper

I used the coordinating colors of Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo and Basic White to make the 'Hey,Chick' card below.

For this next card, I used the coordinating colors of Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green to make the 'Happy Birthday' card.

Tips & Instructions

I put together a pdf to share with you for each card. Click on the links below.
