Cup of Christmas isn't only for Christmas

Hello & happy November!

Have you known about the versatility that Stampin' UP!'s stamps have? I fall in love with this over and over as I see other creative demonstrators and crafty crafters put together some out of the box projects!

I put myself to the challenge of creating an out of the ordinary card using the Cup of Christmas stamp set (2019 Holiday Catalog). This stamp set is not only versatile but it's the very first Reversible stamp set that Stampin' UP! designed. It's SUPER cool!!!!

https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/product/150491/cup-of-christmas-photopolymer-stamp-set-en

Below, I created a traditional 3"x3" card that usually comes to mind when you hear Cup of Christmas. I actually CASED it from pg. 4 of the Holiday catalog. Super cute and simple!

Now the challenge was to create a card that was completely different. I went with the idea of creating a Thank You card using colors from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper: Sahara sand, Seaside Spray, and Terracotta tile.

Now you have a totally different look using the exact same stamp set! Think of the many ways you can use this set and go for it!

Let me know if you've given this a try. I'd love to hear from you!

To get the featured products and more, contact your local demonstrator. If you don't have one, feel free to at shop at my Online Store.

 Until next time...

Masculine card for wedding anniversary

Me and my sweet husband's 11th wedding anniversary is this month and of course I had to make my husband a card.

Masculine cards are a challenge for most of us (including myself) and it took me some time to figure out what to do after having a finished card coming out too feminine. Believe me, I know the struggle!

So back to the drawing board I went, literally. I shifted gears and thought about using the Sailing Home and the Little Twinkle stamp sets together somehow. By the way, I used a totally different stamp set and layout for that one card I made that came out too feminine. I started drawing a sketch of my layout and searched on Pinterest for "sail in night sky" and I noticed this picture and thought it was perfect! I was automatically inspired!

Below is my inspiration that came to life! I am very happy with it!

Some instructions on how I made the card:
  1.  I first got to work with placing my mountains for the background. I just drew them by hand and colored them in with my black Stampin' Blends.
  2. I then heat-embossed the lighthouse and sailboat with black embossing powder. I created some masks for these to prepare for the sponging technique.
  3. I sponged my lightest color first at the top of the mountains and worked my way to the darkest color towards the top of the card-front. I used Blueberry Bushel, Night of Navy, and Rich Razzleberry. Please note that I did have to be careful with the Rich Razzleberry because it tends to overpower the other colors. I ended up sponging some more Night of Navy over it.
  4. I took some white craft ink and my watercolor brush to splatter the ink above the mountains. After that dried, I heat embossed the heart with white embossing powder.
  5. For the water below the mountains, I sponged Coastal Cabana, Blueberry Bushel, and Night of Navy in that order.
  6. I colored over the lighthouse and sailboat with my Stampin' Blends. Crumb Cake for the lighthouse and Mint Macaron with Smoky Slate for the sailboat to make it look darker.
  7. Finished off the card with the sentiment from the  Little Twinkle stamp set and some Braided linen trim.

I would love to hear your comments on what you think about this card (please be kind). Let me know what stamp sets you've used for masculine cards. I always need help with that!

Until next time....

Retirement Card using On To Adventure

A happy hello to you!
I'm coming back today to share one of my most desired stamp sets - On to Adventure. Stampin' UP! really does listen to its demonstrator feedback and I believe I was one of many whose feedback was answered about providing a stamp set that focused on retirement. I have many co-workers at my job that retire from here and I was ECSTATIC when I saw this set in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog!!!

Isn't that stamp set just A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.?!!

I got to creating this weekend and wanted a simple and masculine card for a co-worker whose retiring at the end of August. As I was trying to figure out what layout to use, my eye was caught by the card from the Annual Catalog on page 28. This was exactly what I wanted so I CASED (copy and share everything) it.

The card below is my personal creation. What do you think? (please be kind)

Some Tips for you:

  • I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to extend the phrase and make one line. You can also use the Stamparatus to do this.
  • This stamp set is perfect for The Stampin' Blends since the shading on it helps you know exactly where to shade and add depth to your image.
  • Not sure if the CASED card had a hole through the front of the card but I did. I cut out the holes on the front of the card using the largest and 2nd to largest stitched circles from the stitched shapes dies.

I do hope you enjoyed this card and hope that you too are inspired to give this adorable stamp set a try as well! Contact your local demonstrator to purchase any of the above listed products. If you don't have a demonstrator, I'm happy to help you or you may shop at my Online Store at any time!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Until next time...

Hugs from Shelli - Card & Matching gift tag

Welcome to today's post! I'm so glad you joined me!

So, I'm a Paper Pumpkin (PP) subscriber and the May 2019 Kit - Hugs from Shelli has been my absolute favorite!!! Isn't that stamp set just lovely?!!

Even though we're already in July, I barely had the pleasure of putting together my PP kit. Usually, the supplies that Stampin' UP! provides in the kit contains a little more than you need to create your projects. I took advantage of using my leftover supplies to create this cute matching tag with one of the cards. I used the Stitched Nested Label die and trimmed off one side to have a flat bottom.

I didn't veer from the original design of the cards because I love them just the way they were designed. Thankfully, the Paper Pumpkin kits allow you to be as versatile as you'd like.

I do, however, like to finish off the inside of my cards to match the front. I simply matted a piece of very vanilla cardstock with a piece of pretty peacock cardstock then stamped the feather image with pretty peacock and early espresso as shown below.

If you haven't heard or tried Paper Pumpkin, I highly recommend it to you! Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up! is a crafting subscription kit that delivers creativity to your door every month. Each box includes everything you need to make a stunning project.
They’ll surprise you with projects like cards, gift packaging, home décor, and more for just $22.00 a month (shipping included). What I especially love about these kits is the fact that 1- it's a surprise every month and 2- no need to do any design work because it's done for you. All you get to do is put it together!

To join the Paper Pumpkin fun and to begin your subscription, go to this Paper Pumpkin link. Please note that the August Paper Pumpkin sign up deadline has passed (July 10th) BUT the good news is that an add-on kit (24 cards of 2 different designs) will be available August 1st! More info to come.

That is all I have for you today! Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions by commenting below or e-mailing me.

Until next time!...

Heartfelt Sympathy Card

My friend and co-worker had the unfortunate loss of her father this past week. Naturally, I wanted to design a special card for her to express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy.

My first thought was to use a stamp set that I hadn't had the opportunity to use, the Lovely Lattice stamp set from the 2019 Sale-a-bration catalog. I wanted to pair this stamp with some Purple Posy, my favorite In-Color!

It's hard to capture all the shimmer I added to this card so the pictures don't do it justice. I do love everything about this card!

Below are the supplies I used for this project.
